Itinerary

UNESCO world cultural heritage Visby welcomes you with many places of interest as well as an impressive city wall.

After breakfast, your hiking tour starts with a beautifaul paths along the coast and breathtaking views of the Baltic Sea. After about 3,5 hours you will reach the wonderful Lummelunda Cave, which can be explored during a guided tour (approx 190 SEK per person, not included). By public bus you returne to Visby, where there is time to explore the town further on your own.

Today you hike along the Östkustleden through a scenic stretch of coast (don't forget your bathing suit). Today’s destination is the former trading town of Ljugarn. Around the turn of the century, the town developed into a popular bathing and holiday resort and was mainly visited by aristocrats, writers and artists. Ljugarn beach is one of the most beautiful on the island.

You are heading towards Klintehamn, south of Visby. The boat M/S Stora Karlsö takes you to the 2.5 km2 limestone island of the same name (ca. 30 minutes). The island is home to one of the oldest nature reserves in the world and is known for its diverse bird life. In the island museum you will learn more about the flora, fauna, geology and cultural history of the island. Afterwards you can strengthen yourself in the island restaurant before heading back to Visby in the afternoon.

The first highlight of today's hike is the nature area of Södra Hällarna. There is something for everyone here: forests, cliffs, beaches, caves and more. You continue to Fridhem. From 1861-62 Villa Fridhem was built here for Princess Eugenie. Visit the park, the café or take a bath in the sea. Next highlight: Högklint, one of the most spectacular cliffs on Gotland, which falls almost vertically into the sea at a height of 48 meters. Finally you reach Ygne fiskeläge. Nestled on a rocky outcrop between rugged cliffs, the former fishing village is reminiscent of days gone by. By public bus (not included) you return to Visby, alternatively you can walk back to town on the well-maintained walking and cycling path.

After breakfast your hiking holiday ends. We are happy to extend your holiday with extra nights.

Tour character
