Take a first stroll through Sweden’s capital and explore some of the many sights and tourist attractions.
Along Lake Mälar, Sweden’s third largest lake you cycle to UNESCO world cultural heritage Drottningholm Palace. Here, on the shore of the lake, the royal family grew up. Take your time to explore the beautiful palace as well as the Chinese Pavilion dating from the 18th century. You continue by a short ferry trip towards Södertälje. The small town and home of Scania is connected to the Baltic Sea through a lock in the Södertälje canal.
Today’s tour takes you right into the amazing scenery of Sörmland. At this spot countless rivers and lakes were formed due to vast tectonic movements. Nevertheless the altitude is never higher than 100m. Once you have mastered the hills you get rewarded with stunning views and a long descent. Your destination for the day is the idyllic Baltic Sea town of Trosa, which is also used as the setting for many “Inga Lindström” movies. Finish your day with a stroll through the picturesque village and enjoy the small alleys, red houses and wonderful views on the water.
You start with a bus ride to Gisekvarn (not included), followed by a 3 km long walk through beautiful forest with mossy cliffs. Look forward to stunning views over the Baltic Sea. Afterwards a bit more hilly section is awaiting you, again with amazing views into the valley. Highlight of the day is 18th century Tureholm palace, and another 1,5 km further you should have a well-deserved coffee break at Tarte Tatin Café. Two kilometres later you have reached Trosa again, welcome back!
After breakfast a transfer brings you to palace Tullgarn, where king Gustaf V. and queen Victoria used to spend their summers in the beginning of the 20th century. Spend some time in the beautiful palace garden, feel the fresh breeze from the Sea and enjoy a typical, Swedish coffee break before you walk back to Trosa.
Northward bound and a short ferry trip later you return by bike to one of Stockholm’s many islands. The last part is covered by a commuter train to Stockholm. Enjoy your last overnight in the capital with a typical Swedish dinner in one of the numerous restaurants.
After breakfast your bike tour ends. We are happy to extend your holiday with extra nights.
Tour character
You cycle and walk mostly on bike paths and gravel roads as well as forest tracks and side roads with less traffic through typical Swedish nature. To some extent simpler trail conditions with raw gravel are awaiting you. Flat to slightly hilly tour course.
